Methycobal Injection Vitamin b12. Description:
Methycobal injection is used to treat vitamin B12 deficiency and megaloblastic anaemia (a blood disorder caused due to deficiency of vitamin B12). It is used in the treatment of painful nerve disease called peripheral neuropathy,It also helps to treat anemia, fatigue, and numbness or tingling in hands and feet and muscle weakness.

- Decreased appetite (rare)
- Dizziness (rare)
- Headache (rare)
- Skin rash
- Chest pain and discomfort (rare)
When not to use?

Leber’s Disease
Methycobal Injection 500 mcg 10 Amp is not recommended for use in patients who have Leber’s Disease, a rare genetic disorder.
Warnings

Pregnancy
This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.

Breast-feeding
This medicine can be taken by women who are breastfeeding. However, the daily recommended amount should not be exceeded. You are advised to consult a doctor before taking this medicine.

Elderly
Few elderly patients may have a reduced capacity to absorb this medicine through the intestine. Appropriate dose adjustments and frequent clinical monitoring are necessary for such patients.

Other medicines
Many medicines interact with this medicine and may decrease the absorption of this medicine. Hence, it is advised that you report to the doctor all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.

Patients who have had a recent gastrointestinal surgery may have reduced absorption of this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments should be done under your doctor’s supervision.

Folic acid
Folic acid supplements can mask some of the symptoms of anemia caused by Vitamin B12 deficiency. It is advised to consult the doctor and ensure that the right supplement is being taken.

Use of antacids
Coadministration of antacids and this medicine may reduce the absorption of this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative should be done under your doctor’s supervision.
